Half Empty or Half Full?

"Do you see the glass as half empty or half full?"

This question has been one asked for decades. Used in psychological tests and as equally in words of inspiration, the question encourages us to measure how we are viewing life.

Does it really matter if the glass half empty or half full, as long as it is refillable?

Before Timex, sailors used hourglasses as time pieces. Asking if it was half empty was kind of like asking "Are we there yet"?

If the expression is used to count one's earthly years, then I am evaporating quickly!

Equally as used are the expressions, "I'm running on empty" and "I'm running out of steam." On average, the human body is made up of 60% water, so right there is proof that you are half-full, but those phrases mean you are desperate for a refilling.

Oh wait, what about this one? "I'm blowing off steam." We're fighting so hard to keep the glass half full that we are inside a pressure cooker. DANGER. I mean, have you seen one of those blow?

Why do we allow ourselves to get this way?

Parents complain that they are so tired from everything their kids are doing. IF YOU ARE TIRED, YOUR KIDS ARE TIRED. Just let that sink in a little bit. Oh, more water. Sink.

Every feel like you're sinking? Drowning?

Just.....stop. Refill. Drink some Living Water. Re-hydrate. Your glass shouldn't be half empty OR half full. Your cup overflows, remember?

If what you are doing has you drained (oh yes, more water expressions), then there are some things to think about.

I am not referring to that once-in-awhile-I've-got-so-much-to-do thing. I'm talking about days on end of feeling like you're all dried up.

I'm preaching to the assemblies and singing to the choir here. I get it. I DO. If we are having to measure in halves then something is desperately wrong!

If you are indispensable at your job, but your health--mentally OR physically are suffering then you need refilled.  If you can't say no because what you do is for a good reason, but you are drained, you need refilled. I already said this, but its worth saying again, if you are exhausted from everything your kids are doing, then they are tired too and all of you are doing TOO MUCH. Refill!

In the long run (drink lots of water while running), it doesn't really matter which way you see the glass. Its refillable. And refilling is required.

I don't know what that means for you. For me, it meant standing out in a thunder snow storm yesterday. Getting soaking wet under huge soggy flakes in the mountains filled with fresh air and moisture did a whole lot to refill this very worn down spirit.

What's your refill? Do that. Do it soon. Don't wait to empty that half full glass, because you are created to be a cup overflowing. OVERFLOWING!

Did you get that? You should not be half full OR half empty. You should be overflowing.

It's refillable. Psalm 23, Baby. Keep refilling. :-)

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil
For You are with me;
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the
presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
MY CUP RUNS OVER.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
