IT'S BEEN A YEAR.....

Never did we think we would see a pandemic that froze entire nations. Never did we expect to lose loved ones so painfully and in such an unexpected manner. Never did we expect to see the resemblance of war breaking out in our streets. Never would we have guessed an election year would be filled with so much hatred.

It has been a year, and we are tired.

Christmas has come and only the remnants of it remain. Full trash bins, exhausted parents, cranky sugar-loaded children.

I lost a good friend this season. Unexpected and sudden, he walked from this life into The Best Life. He's feasting at the Master's table. For much of his life he fed from us, and we from him, as he did his best to disperse as much love as possible. He had an enormous amount of it. He was never afraid of living. He fed others more joy in his 58 years of life than some do in 98 years of life.

This holiday season the story of the Christ's birth held more than a few sweet ah-ha moments during my devotions. The one that held my attention the most was the idea of His lowly birth, and what His life means. Of course He was born into a feeding trough. His entire existence was purposed to feed us. And His commission to us? Feed others. It is no coincidence that He is the Bread of Life.

As 2020 comes to a close, may we carry lessons from this year into the next. May we feast on His unending supply of life-giving bread. May we live each day seeking wholeness, love, joy, and peace. And more than this, may we give it, and even more.

I love you all. Happy New Year.
