WHEN YOU NEED THE LIGHT.....

It is 19 chilly, still degrees outside this morning, and at 6:00 it is still dark. It has been said it is always darkest before the dawn.

I heard the wind before I could see it moving gently through trees. It was a profound chorus of soft muffled howling before the chimes hanging on the tree captured its movement. I stood there, awed, because it was the first time I had experienced it. An announcement in the cold quiet that something was coming.

Now 7:20, there is light breaking through the darkness in the rich colors of orange and pink. I often wonder at people who can sleep through magnificent sunrises. Dawn puncturing the darkness with vibrance that welcomes a new day. Light always is most noticeable when it is most needed.

Stars cannot be seen without a clear, blackened sky. A moon needs night to reach its full capacity and fill a sky with glory. And the world, dark and weary, needed a Bethlehem star to break the bonds of sin and shame and sorrow to light broken and enslaved hearts.

I have been watching desperate souls cry out this Christmas season. They cannot break into daylight to see there is a Great Love and Healer who wants to set them free. They have settled into darkness, covered their heads so that light will not penetrate pain they fear cannot be resolved.

Before the wind ever blows on our skin, it has been breathed into our world, and before we can ever see light, we have to be exposed to the elements that make it visible. To remove the layers that make it possible to see and feel are terrifying.

Imagine, will you, the terror that shepherds felt as that Heavenly chorus broke free in the night, announcing the light. Nowhere to hide, being present in it, they went through the darkest hours to see the brightest light shining into their universe. Their long awaited Healer, their Prince of Peace, their Almighty God, their Counselor had finally arrived, satisfying the deepest desires of their very souls.

During this season in particular, it seems to see it is to want it. But sometimes you must want it to see it. There is no darkness that His Comforter cannot break the seal of to shine into you.

"Fear not, for I bring you GOOD tidings of GREAT JOY...."

My prayer this season, just two weeks shy of Christmas, is that you will hear the sound as the Spirit blows your fear to the ends of the earth, and that you will experience The Great Light that is come, for your healing, for YOU.

He comes with healing in His wings.

Love you.

C.
