Anything You Can Imagine, You Can Do
ANYTHING you can imagine, you can do!
Doesn't it just make sense? Alexander Graham Bell knew there could be devices we could use to communicate that didn't require we be in the same house together. Now we use them to communicate while we're IN the same house together! Gutzon Borglum could see presidential faces carved out of a mountain before he ever took one swing with a pick. Lady Gaga came alive onstage when she started acting in school plays, and before she knew it? A star was born!
Closer to home, when a child thinks he can build the tallest lego tower known to mankind, he does it. The first time your daughter gets into your makeup, because she wants to look as beautiful as her mom, she does. He scored the winning touchdown, because he could see the goal line. She was the first person in her family to graduate from college because she knew she was smart enough and could feel the diploma in her hands and the tassel brushing her cheek.
Every great and small thing came from a thought, the imagination, the creation of the mind. God created this magnificent and intricate planet and the people and things in it because he could see it. And it was very good.
I know I am not the only one who struggles with broken dreams, redrawn maps of the direction you are going to live. Just a few weeks ago, while having a really fun day out with my cousins, I realized how very much I want to have a successful portrait studio and art gallery, next door to each other, or back to back, close enough that I can have my feet in both places. No, I'm not a journalist or world-renown photographer and I'm not working for National Geographic. But the dream was much more.... it was creating. It was having a camera in my hands. It was bringing joy. Where and how I do that has evolved. And it's become about encouraging, and inspiring other artists to be willing to adjust their paths.
What can you imagine? Think of what the world would be missing if Walt Disney wouldn't have seen the world's favorite playground?
Anything you can imagine, you can do. Its your responsibility to make it happen. There will be potholes, ruts, even sink holes along the road, but what you do when you move past them, that's totally up to you.
Don't let that mind tell you no after its seen the fantastic yes. Imagine. Dream. DO.
