If I Don't Cry
This is a song awaiting a melody. It is a poem written with the intention of eventually be added to music that is yet mulling around in my head. I will add a video when the piece is complete. Please enjoy it in its poetic form in the meantime.
If I Don't Cry
I'm wearing pink lipstick for the last time
I'm smoking my last cigarette
I'm blowing you off as a pastime
If I don't cry, there's no regret.
You're just a penny on the sidewalk
That I don't bother picking up.
You're that old tissue in my pocket
Leftover coffee in my cup.
You're like losing the glasses
Sitting on my head.
You're like looking for a pen
But the ink is dead.
You're a sweet drink
With a bitter aftertaste
You're just an empty dream I chased.
If I Don't Cry
I'm wearing pink lipstick for the last time
I'm smoking my last cigarette
I'm blowing you off as a pastime
If I don't cry, there's no regret.
You're just a penny on the sidewalk
That I don't bother picking up.
You're that old tissue in my pocket
Leftover coffee in my cup.
You're like losing the glasses
Sitting on my head.
You're like looking for a pen
But the ink is dead.
You're a sweet drink
With a bitter aftertaste
You're just an empty dream I chased.
