When You're Tempted to Give Up.....DON'T!

When you're tempted to give up....DON'T.

There was a great Instagram post from Refit®this week.

"Pick yourself up. Dry your eyes. Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, then it's not the end. You've got this."

YESSSSSS.

I have been leery of getting too comfortable feeling comfortable. Do you ever have that feeling? I know things are okay, even really GOOD, but for how long? How long do I get to stay in this great space and time?

Then, this old saying pops into my head, "what goes up, must come down," and that includes me, reaching a mountaintop where the high is calm and amazing. No, I don't WANT to come down, but at some point, I'm going to have to. It's just how it is.

The work begins at the bottom. Having a mountaintop experience means you had to start in the dirt. It means you climb, reach, cling, getting so tired you think you can't take another step. But you've got this. Do NOT give up!

Sometimes it's a push. Something comes at you like a strong, torrential wind and it blows you off the other side. Falling, you're grabbing for something to break the frantic descent and you can't find it. You tumble, tumble, tumble, broken, beat up and bleeding to the bottom. But you've got this. GET BACK UP!

Sometimes it's a choice to walk down the mountain. There's a trail. Its rocky, but you can do it. You know you can, because you climbed it to the top. You've got this.

Sometimes it's standing at the summit, arms open wide, breathing in the beauty and awe of it all. You know that you  have to, at some point, return to the bottom. It doesn't deter you from enjoying the top. You enjoy the journey knowing another mountain will require climbing. No problem! You've got this.

We are all climbing mountains. We want to cheat to get to the top. Don't you wonder sometimes how someone else got there so fast? It takes the initial footing, but we don't all get to ascend at the same rate. For some of us, it takes longer.

It's going to be exhausting! Sometimes you have to take a rest at the top just long enough to know there's a valley that requires your attention.

It's better to choose the walk down. Otherwise you might slide down face first multiple times before you get to the bottom. It feels like failure. It means starting over. Over and over again. And it's not okay. And it's not over.

But.....

You cannot succeed without failure. You cannot succeed without failure! One does not exist without the other. You would not recognize one without the other. They are opposites of one another and you have to do both to do either one. It may seem impossible. The fall may devastate you multiple times. Just get back up. Again and again. No matter how many times it takes.

Climb that mountain. You've got this
